Unfortunately, styrofoam boxes have always been our best choice when it comes to keeping your premium, fresh meat products perfectly chilled in transit in Brisbane, QLD. From an environmental perspective though it’s certainly not the best. This is why we’ve decided to do better, be better and work to offer our customers a better solution to help us achieve our goal by saying ‘no to styro’!
Goals of The NoStyro Project
GOAL 1
Cease using styrofoam boxes (currently around 5000 boxes per year and growing) for Meat at Billy’s online deliveries by mid 2025.
GOAL 2
Implement a solution that doesn’t simply create another form of ‘single use waste’ that requires disposal or recycling. Insulated cardboard boxes, wool insulation etc can only be used once only.
GOAL 3
To involve the Meat at Billy’s community in our solution by offering a choice to customers that also want to support a more environmentally friendly option.
How it Works… Billy explains…
The NoStyro Project came about after a lot of sleepless nights wondering how best to remove styrofoam boxes from our delivery process. It was essential that the solution didn’t sacrifice the things that styro is really good at (keeps meat really cold, sturdy, long lasting) and didn’t simply replace styro with another form of ‘single use waste’ that still requires disposal or recycling eg. insulated cardboard etc. It eventually became apparent there really wasn’t anything suitable on the market so in true Meat at Billy’s style, Billy decided to create his own solution… the ChillyBilly!
The ChillyBilly is our own custom made cooler that’s been manufactured right here in Australia and can be swapped in/out with each delivery. It does everything that styro does … keeps meat really cold, long lasting, sturdy BUT is much better for the environment in that it is reusable, over and over again. Plus, we think it looks pretty cool too 😉
The NoStyro Project is our ChillyBilly exchange membership program. Instead of your home delivery order being packed in a styrofoam cooler box, you can now choose to opt in by paying a once off $33 fee, and have your deliveries packed in your very own – ChillyBilly cooler.
Your ChillyBilly is yours to keep between orders. Use it as you like – picnic, beach, Saturday sport, camping, wherever! When you choose to join the NoStyro Project, you choose black to go green!
How to Join
The NoStyro Project
Before we can you start, you’ll need to determine if you already have a Meat at Billy’s online account or not.
(1) If you already have a Meat at Billy’s online account, you will have an existing username and password for your account (eg. you’ve logged in to the website today with your username & password);
OR
(2) You are a guest user (non-account holder and always checkout as a guest).
Once you have determined whether or not you already have a Meat at Billy’s online account, follow the relevant instructions below.

What if I’m not home & forget to leave out my ChillyBilly?
Our drivers will leave your order in a cooler bag with an ice brick. As is our usual practice, they’ll send you a message letting you know they’ve delivered your order.
Just remember to leave your ChillyBilly out next time and we’ll swap it over then.
