Our Beef Stroganoff is a quick cook version. It’s made with grass fed rump steak strips in a tomato sauce with paprika, fresh mushrooms & onions. High quality rump steak means there’s no long cook time required for soft & tender meat.
We recommend about 800g – 1kg to serve 4 people. However, as with our other stir fry style meals you’ll find it has a high meat to vegetable ratio. This means you can easily bulk it out and make it go even further by adding more vegetables yourself if preferred. See some of our suggestions below.
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS NEEDED
Sour cream OR creme fraiche OR cream. We recommend sour cream.
Approximately 1 cup per 1kg of stroganoff.
Heat a large frying pan to a medium heat. When hot, place the stroganoff in the pan and let simmer for around 7 minutes, stirring regularly. A few minutes before serving, stir in some sour cream, let it simmer for a few minutes to thicken the sauce slightly.. Don’t worry of the sour cream looks like it’s splitting. It will come together.
-Traditionally Stroganoff is served with buttered pasta or steam rice. Other good options are mashed potato, crusty bread & butter, quinoa & wild rice.
-Love mushrooms? Add in more sauteed mushrooms (cook before adding them though for better flavour).
-Need more greens? Throw in a bag of baby spinach just before serving. Add in green beans or snow peas minutes before serving.
