Shimo Wagyu Rump 9+

Shimo Wagyu Rump Steak
When it comes to premium cuts of beef, the rib fillet, eye fillet, and sirloin often take centre stage. However, a highly marbled Wagyu rump steak offers a unique and exceptional eating experience easily rivalling these revered cuts.

Unparalleled Marbling
The hallmark of Wagyu beef is the marbling, and this Shimo Wagyu rump is no exception. The marbling of fat woven throughout ensures that each bite is rich & juicy. The marbling not only enhances the taste but also contributes to that melt in your mouth tenderness, a quality that can sometimes be lacking in leaner cuts like the eye fillet.

Rich, Robust Flavour
While rib fillet and sirloin are known for their strong beefy flavour, the Wagyu rump steak offers a complexity that is both rich and nuanced. The marbling in the rump steak provides a perfect balance of savoury and umami flavours, making it a standout choice for those who really don’t shy away from big taste & texture when it comes to their steak.

Versatility and Value
This Shimo Wagyu rump steak is incredibly versatile. You can grill hot & fast – as a whole steak or in strips as a stir fry. Cube it for BBQ skewers or even slow cooked dishes.
Cooked as a whole piece, it makes an impressive (large) roast that is extra delicious served up cold and thinly sliced for sandwiches the next day. Additionally, compared to the often pricier rib fillet and eye fillet, the Wagyu rump steak offers exceptional value without compromising on quality. It’s an excellent option for those looking to enjoy premium Wagyu beef without breaking the bank.

Perfect for Sharing
Given its generous size, a rump steak is ideal for sharing. It’s a great centre piece for gatherings, allowing multiple people to enjoy at once. This social aspect can add a bit of fun to a dining experience too, making it memorable and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Not convinced yet?
While rib fillet, eye fillet, and sirloin steaks have their well-deserved reputations, this highly marbled Wagyu rump steak really does hold its own as a premium steak option. The delicious marbling, rich flavour, versatility and value make it a great option for your steak night or any special gathering. Our recommendation – if you haven’t tried this yet, give it a go, you’ll love it. There’s a reason it’s a staff favourite and fast becoming one of our top selling steaks.

This Shimo Wagyu rump 9+ can also be ordered as a whole rump.

Billy’s tips for cooking Wagyu …

“To get the best from your Wagyu, cook it to medium, as opposed to rare or medium rare. This allows it to break down some of the fat, creating a more tender, juicy steak. Also, don’t be shy on the salt as this enhances the caramelisation process.
Also, be sure to cook it over a high heat and never on a grill. Use a flat plate because you want to seal and caramelise the steak. You don’t want to lose all that flavour. After all, the fat is what is most prized in the Wagyu!”
