Have you noticed? Meat at Billy’s Ashgrove has had a facelift! We’re sporting a new shopfront and new signage.
A little bit of history: Our current shop site has been host to a butcher shop for many decades. In fact, back in the 1970s, it was one of four butcher shops in the block. As we started to remove the old tiles, we were surprised to discover some of the old butcher advertising underneath. Check out the price of mince back then! $2/kg – how times have changed!
All in all, we reckon the changes look pretty schmick!
After posting this blog, we received a lovely email from a customer that began shopping in the butcher shop in 1969. Here’s what she said:
That photo brought back memories. When first married in 1969, I lived in Ashgrove for a few years and bought our meat in that store every Saturday morning. Butchers were always friendly and meat of a high quality. So your team continues the tradition. My weekly meat bill was around $6.
New shop-front looks very stylish. Well done!” Sue
